New trustees and new officers headlined the April Library Board of Trustees Meeting. New Trustees are Teresa Commerford, Jane Hokanson, & Emily Davis. Newly elected officers are Chairman Shannen DeWeese, Vice Chairman Mike Estes, Treasurer Karen Minnis, & Secretary Tiffany Carr.
Fulfilling their terms and leaving the board are LynAnnBowman, Karla Brummett, & Cyndi Christopher. These three women’s service totaled 39 years. Bowman was Chairman during the planning and construction of the new library, and Brummett was Treasurer during that time. These two carried for the board the heaviest duties of the construction, along with Librarian Kathy Leon, former Chairman Jules Constantin, & advisor Mike Brummett.
Librarian Leon reported on her recent trip to Denver to attend the Public Library Association Conference. It focused mainly on diversity with one of the main speakers being Anderson Cooper!
A lengthy discussion concerned plans for a plaque to commemorate donations given for construction of the new library. Librarian Leon will check with the Trophy Shop regarding possible designs.
The next meeting will be held May 16th. 2016 @ 7:30pm
